Here today...

“This is probably my most popular image of all time. It shows deckchairs on the Palace Pier, looking towards the West Pier. On the left is a lamp-post. The reason it’s called “Here Today” is because when I got back to look at some detail on that lamp-post there were just four bolt holes in the floor.”

  • Philip, I wonder if you might email me as I found and purchased this print here in Canada of all places. I could not believe my luck when I found it here. I am interested to know more about your work. I was born and raised in Brighton but moved to Canada in 1990. napaneefc@gmail.com or if someone could put me in contact with Philip that would also be great. Thanks.

  • Phillip, I am a teacher at Wadhurst Primary School in East Sussex. I really like the image of the pier. I wondered if you had other images of Brighton. I would be really grateful if you could e mail me as we are doing a project on Brighton and wondered if you might be able to help. Thank you.

  • I want to thank Mr. Dunn. Friends of mine went to visit Brighton a few years ago and brought this very picture back to Canada as a gift for me. I was born and raised in Brighton and did 2 summer shows in the theatre at the end of the pier in the late 1960s. Your painting brings back many good memories.

  • Was just ‘home’ in Brighton a few days ago, I live in Yorkshire now and my daughter and I visited ‘Brighton’ Pier! Oh, how time have changed. I remember when it was called the Palace Pier, and the West Pier was also open to visitors! Happy days.
