Just where in Bevendean is Hogtrough bottom? It is not shown on my 1872 map or the the modern land ranger series.

I used to live in Bevendean Crescent. To get to Hogtrough Bottom you go across the road and onto the unbuilt-on part (wasn’t then anyway, in the 1980s) of the rough downland, follow the path along and Hogtrough Bottom is (or was) a scrub, gorse and bramble-filled valley down to the right of the path. We must have got the name from an ordnance survey map of the time – maybe they’ve decided not to call it that anymore? I remember hunting for my dog for a couple of hours there once, getting quite worried. When I got home, she was sitting on the doorstep.
