Pupil councillors visit the Town Hall

This week a group of children from St Martin’s School, Hartington Road, made a very special visit to the Town Hall.

St Martin’s School has a system of pupil representation based on elected pupil councillors for each year. When they visited the Mayor, Councillor Garry Pelzter Dunn, he entertained them to tea in the Mayor’s Parlour.  The children were also given a tour of the council chamber which gave them an idea of how it would feel to be a city councillor.  Who knows, maybe some of them will go on to become council members themselves?

  • My father, now departed but born nearly 100 years ago, went to St Martins along with his brother & many sisters. Any old timers from there still about?
