These are scenes from my childhood. I would date them from the early 1930s. There is no paddling pool opposite the Hotel Metropole. The fishing boats were there when I arrived in Brighton aged 6 in 1930, and I can remember when the promenade was paved over with coloured paving stones. I could have been one of the youngsters watching the Punch and Judy!
