This is a photographic print of the backyard of 39 Carlton Street, Brighton. It is a view of a wall that has partially collapsed. A derelict structure can be seen on the far side of the wall. Two children stand on top of the wall, looking at the camera.

This photograph was commissioned by the Environmental Health department of Brighton Borough Council. It formed part of a visual record of areas considered for slum clearance. Carlton Street was demolished in the 1960s.
