Kingsley Road

Kingsley Road

In reply to Kim Reynolds 11/1/18 post on Robertson Road regarding Kingsley Road, I believe this is my family that you are inquiring about. My Great Grandparents, George and Mary Collings moved to 28 Kingsley Road in 1915 with their children Cecelia, Grace, Winifred and George. George was my Grandfather, he married Nora and lived at number 28 for many years. They had 2 children, David and Nola (my mother).

Mathew who you used to play with was David’s son. They lived in Clermont Terrace but were frequently at Kingsley Road. As you mentioned, Mathew sadly died at the age of 12 from Cystic Fibrosis. David Collings is still occasionally acting. You probably see him on tv every Christmas as Bob Cratchit in reruns of the classic 1970 Scrooge!

  • I vaguely remember George, did he keep birds in his back garden? I lived at number 30 during the 70s and 80s.
