Street party c1947

I am not sure of the exact date of this street party – perhaps 1947? And apart from family members, the names of the rest of the group has been lost in the mists of time.

I do know that there are two of the Wheeler sisters on the back row, and David Wheeler, David Brown and Nigel Bryan are on the front row.

Perhaps you can help? Do you recognise yourself or anyone else here? If you do, please leave a comment below.

  • Is that a young Princess Margaret second from the right?

  • Sorry Stefan, good try but it is Sarah Haines. She was the best looking girl in Brighton in the late forties. I was in love with her, I was about eight at the time. All of the Haines boy’s were my mates, Harry, Dennis, Jimmy, and Billy. I would love to hear from any relations of the families who lived in Tichborne Street in the 40s and 50s, I lived at No 1.

  • Ah well, never mind, Nigel – Margaret was known to ‘get about’ quite a bit in her day! Still, Sarah looks a bit of a babe, so you had good taste even at the age of eight!

  • Can’t believe my wife has just found a picture of Tichbourne Street on her laptop and my family are there. Sadly Sarah died just a month ago

  • Harry Haines remembers the Bryan family going to Australia. Are you still there? Please get in touch. He has good memories of those times.

  • Hi Harry, I remember you and all of the family well. You are right, what good times we all had, it was a good street to live in. I have been back to England many time. On my trips in the 80s and 90s I met with Jimmy, it was sad to read of his passing. Dennis my brother passed away in 2009, Ken is still alive and active, Nat is in England on a visit now, my email is nig.b@bigpond.com. I will be in England next year, take care Nigel Bryan.
