Nobody I know unfortunately.Been trying for 2 years to piece together the life of Victorian Artist Philip Stortz ( my Great Great Grandfather) who died at 8 providence place Hove in 1882, but in the Walker Gallery Autumn 1881 catalogue it has him living at 19 Kings Road, but he does not appear anywhere in the country on the 1881 census. Maybe this was a holding address,he was German, so may have been out of the country. Will keep plodding on. many many thanks.Sheila. Re: 1881,1882 address. by Sheila Whittingham 11 January 2004Thanks for all your efforts. I will try writing to the cemetery people. I contacted the Brighton Argus to see if they had an obituary, for Philip Stortz, but they said their records do not go back that far, and the british library, said their Brighton newspapers for 1882 are too delicate to look at, until they are conserved.Frustrating or what!!! I would think his son Camile would have bought the grave, as he lived on Vere Road, Brighton, but I will contact the Cemetery. Thanks again. Sheila.
