I was born at this address during World War 2, in September 1944 and was almost immediately adopted. In stories of my early life my adoptive parents only referred to ‘the nursing home’ from where they had collected me and brought me into their home at 6 weeks old. I later found out the address from my full birth certificate but have no information about how I came to be born there, especially as my birth mother’s address was in Lewes. Can anyone please advise me in what name/style this Hove address was registered at that time and whether it was a charity-run establishment or a privately owned home?
