Hello
Just a query raised by a trip into the undergrowth of the Extra Mural Cemetery in Brighton. In the are listed on the map as “Left of Rastricks Above Path” I spotted a headstone which lead me to think there may be, despite the legalities
There is a very ornate headstone hidden off the beaten tack which just states:
“SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF
“BOY”
WHO WAS TAKEN SUDDENLY
AWAY
ON MAY 8TH 1932
AGED 18 YEARS”
On Rootschat it has been suggested that Boy could be a horse or a dog.
I thought that it would have been illegal to bury animals and humans together in such a place. But could it just be a memorial stone, not a grave? Would that have been allowed?
