Avondale College was a private girls’ day school run by Mrs A B Cobbold at 63 Wilbury Road. Boys were admitted up to the age of seven. I attended there 1945-47. My sister was head-girl. A 1933 directory has the school at 99 Cromwell Road. I believe Mrs Cobbold was the wife of John Cobbold who had a gymnasium at 38 Holland Road. Does anyone know when the school closed or anything more about the Cobbolds?
