Does anyone remember the names of teachers at Benfield School, Portslade in the 1950’s and 60’s. I can remember the headmaster – Mr Whiting and Miss Clifford, Mr Gallagher, Miss Bellafonte (I know I’ve spelt that wrong but have mental block), Mr Presly… I can picture several others but cannot put names to them – there was a male teacher who taught music,( he had very dark hair) and a much younger lady teacher (blonde and pretty) who played the piano – two older lady teachers – one a little stern and the other very kind. The latter may have been Miss Bowyer. I have 2 school class photos and one from when we went swimming at the King Alfred. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers anything.
