Brighton restaurants, cafes, burger joints

by Sedat Nemli 1 October 2009

I think it would be great to see a few lines on vanished eating establishments such as the shabby/quaint Mock Turtle Cafe (Lanes) and Uncle Sam’s (a kiosk, really, on Preston Street, serving the tastiest charcoal broiled burgers one could find in Brighton in the mid’70’s. And late into the night, which was a rarity back then). Not forgetting Apadana (lovingly referred to as Upper/Downer among the students of Sussex University) which specialized in Oriental (especially Persian) cuisine. It was located on Western Road, opposite Waitrose.
