Does anyone remember the Co-op? laundry, somewhere around Byron St, or that area? I recall it as a small girl, as a grey tower, and watched it burn one night, apparently due to a faulty iron. My brother came home soaking wet, when he and his friends got in the way of the fire-fighters, and got hosed down for his trouble! I recall my family being worried that the blaze would be a beacon for enemy bombers, as it was quite close to the railway tracks.
