The recent threads on Denmark Villas jogged a memory. I had always been led to believe that Isambard Kingdom Brunel (all bow) was educated in a house in Denmark Villas, but web search reveals that he was educated at Dr Morell’s Boarding School, believed to be in St Aubyns. This would square with recent threads that Denmark Villas was developed in the last half of the nineteenth century as Brunel would have left to join his father’s firm in 1822 at the age of 16. Can anyone confirm where Dr Morell’s was and is there any commemoration plaque installed?
