In 1940 due to fears of an enemy invasion my family was evacuated for a few weeks from Hove to the village of Coldharbour near Leith Hill in Surrey. I had only just been born so have no memory of it. It seems that there was a change of policy which allowed us to return sooner than expected. Did anyone else experience this?
