I am researching H R Burrows Abbey (1872-1949), a collector who gave a large collection of Chinese glass to Bristol Museum. I believe he belonged to the Abbey family who owned the Kemptown brewery. He was probably related to Henry Abbey, Mayor of Brighton in 1875. I believe the Abbey family owned the Portland Hotel in Hove.
Can you tell me any more about the extent of the family’s business interests?
