A couple of men selling greengroceries from a horse and cart used to pass through Addison Road, Hove, where we lived, several times a week – possibly every day. This went on well into the late 1950s and possibly later. Not sure who they were or how far they had come, but it seems horses continued to be in use by a few stout spirits well into the age of the petrol engine.
