John Killick. My father

by Michael Killick 12 August 2022 9:47 PM

Hi my father was John Killick who was named in a story. I was born at 7 Newick rd. I slept in the top drawer until I was about 18 months old in my mum and dads bedroom, until they got me a cot.  Mum and dad lived there for about 7 years until we moved to London.

My dad worked on the golf course in the day and worked in the cinema most nights as he loved his films. After coming home from the Second World War war, he met my mum and they got married in the church nearby, also my grandad. Worked the local phone company

I was at the street party when the Queen was married and crowned. The street party was at Newick Rd Brighton (remember the day well I was only 6 years).

My dad’s brother was called Jimmy Killick and was in the RAF and flew Spitfires.

Well, there is lots of memories in Newick Road , feeding my grandad’s chickens and being taken to the beach every Saturday morning, walking to the beach at 5:30 am to buy fresh fish for Sunday morning breakfast. One day a giant whale was washed up on the beach which was put in the Brighton museum hanging from the ceiling for many years.  Images. Will be shower in the next 3/4 weeks time.

Hope you enjoyed this, Mike Killick son of John killick
