I don’t know if anyone can help. In the 1881 census a family lived over their shop at 50 London Road (presently a Kebab Shop). I believe they’d been there a few years. Before running the shop he’d been a “Town Missionary” (1861 census) but I don’t know with which organisation.
Does anyone know anything about the shop? I’m assuming it wasn’t a business that lasted long.
Does anyone know what organisations employed a “Town Missionary” – I’m assuming something like the present Brighton & Hove City Mission.
