Miss Margaret Hardy

by Colin Cartwright 3 December 2014

I am researching Brighton’s first female Mayor, Miss Margaret Hardy. Local Studies are sending me a brief history of her career which is in the archives. However, I would like to find out more about her background as well as her career as a teacher and local councillor. I believe she was a campaigner for ‘votes for women’ and was a leading member of the Baptist Women’s League. In May 1914 she was a speaker at a national annual Baptist Assembly. Ideally I would like to find out which church she belonged to in Brighton.
