Loved the response on an early wage, but before that, what did you get get for a Saturday Job?
I had several in the 1950s. On Charlie Mears’ stall in the market, as a general dogs body and GOFER for Campings Coaches on the seafront but I cant recall what I got for either of these. When I was a petrol pump attendent at Jeremey’s Corner Garage at Bolney however, I cycled out there and back every day and got 2/6 for my work. I recall that in those days 5 gallons of Regular or 4 gallons of Super cost a quid, but a shot of Redex (UCL) was extra.
