A new lead on my family tree research has led me to a George Moore who moved, with a number of other members of the Moore family,to Portslade from Dorset. On the 1901 Census he is listed as a Market Gardener with the address of “Cowhaynes” ( could be Gowhaynes ) in the parish of St Nicholas, Portslade. My queries on this, if anybody could assist, are ;-
Is this parish built around St Nicholas church in the ” Old Village” Portslade and where was Cowhaynes (Gowhaynes)? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
