Re: mr thorpe by joan 22 August 2009HI TIM, MY APOLOGIES FOR ANY CONFUSION, I THINK THE FOLLOWING SHOULD APPLY TO YOUR QUERY— HOMES / PLACES/ MILLS / COPPERS GAP MILL. ALTHOUGH ACTUALLY I JUST TYPED IN THE SEARCH COLUMN THE NAME — ALBERT THORPE– TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY ACTIVITY WITH THE THORPE CLAN AT PRESENT. I AM NOT CONTINUEING ANY FURTHER AS I HAVE PARKINSONS DISEASE AND MY BRAIN IS NOT WHAT I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE AND MY HANDS FLY ALL OVER THE KEYBOARD, BUT I SHALL ENJOY READING THIS WONDERFUL SITE. WHICH HAS HELPED ME IN THE PAST THANK YOU ALL JOAN Re: mr thorpe by maralyn eden 22 August 2009Best wishes Joan xx Re: mr thorpe. Etc. by Tim Sargeant 22 August 2009Joan; Found it when we got the spelling correct; ie: CopperAs Gap. Re your message there; I think your ‘Leander’ was probably Leander Hearn born Croydon Mar qr 1879. This ties up with age given on the 1901 census. Go to FreeBMDs and do a search for first name only – ‘Leander’. It only works with a name like that as there are so few of them! TCS. Re: mr thorpe. Etc. by Tim Sargeant 22 August 2009PS: Registered as ‘HEARN’ without an ‘e’. TCS. Re: mr thorpe. Etc. by joan 22 August 2009THANKS TIM, UNITY [UNA] ALBERTS ELDEST SISTER WAS BORN IN 1899 IN MITCHAM SURREY WHERE HER MOTHER LEANDER WAS ALSO BORN IN 1879. THEY BOTH APPEARED IN FISHERGATE IN THE 1901 CENSUS, AND FROM WHAT INFO MY HUSBAND GAVE ME OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE TRACED BACK AS FAR AS POSSIBLE AND MY FAMILY ARE SATISFIED WITH RESULTS. I AM MORE SUCESSFUL WITH MY FAMILY, AS WE HAVE LOADS OF HISTORY CONNECTED WITH THE CHURCHES AND PORTSMOUTH, I HAVE LOADS OF COPIES WILLS ETC., GOING BACK TO THE 15TH CENTURY, I HAVE ENJOYED DOING IT. MADE MANY FRIENDS WORLDWIDE IT HAS BEEN A VERY INTERESTING TIME FOR ME.AND WOULD RECOMMEND FAMILY RESEARCH TO OTHERS, THANK YOU JOAN Re: mr thorpe by joan 22 August 2009thanks marylyn, bless you, will contact you soon, hope alls well with you joanx Add your replyHiddenAdd your title Add your wordsWould you like to add some images (optional)?
