Hi, my mother Matilda Merlyn died in January 2020 and was a retired nurse. She came to England in 1961 from Sri Lanka to become a nurse.
Although she had dementia at the end, her visual memory was good and looking at photos she could say where they were taken. She trained/worked in Brighton in the ’60s and often talked about it. I have just found a certificate detailing the address of the hospital and saying she completed training there in June 1966.
Does anyone have photos/memories of that hospital in that time? I have a picture of her in her uniform, with apple trees behind her. you can just see the edge of a sign that says ‘Nurses Home’ to the left. I’d like to visit there at some point- I wonder if those apple trees are still there?
And if anyone knew mum, it would be great to hear from you.
