Old Street Names by Alan Virgo 1 May 2008I am trying to find the location of Cannon Row, Brighton in the 1880s, I cant find it any of the maps I have.Thanks3 replies Re: Old Street Names by Andy Grant 2 May 2008Hi Alan, On the western side of Russell Street, between its junctions with Cannon Street and Upper Russell Street, there were a couple of little known places. Going north from Cannon Street, these were Cannon Court (a cul-de-sac between numbers 10 and 11) and Cannon Row, which I believe was a row of cottages immediately after number 11. At that time the Cannon Brewery stood at number 16 and the virtually subterranean Church of the Holy Resurrection (later the meat market) was after that. When the Cannon Brewery was later extended southwards to the corner with Cannon Street, all of the premises from 10 to 16 were cleared.
