I was asked the other day about the history of the groyne close to the west side of the Palace pier (oops! sorry now Brighton Pier) and I am afraid I had no answer. Was it there before the Pier was built? What was its purpose, as it differs greatly from the other groynes on the beach?
I have tried searching this site but apart from pictures I cannot find any mention of it. Perhaps I have not looked hard enough!! I am sure somebody out there will have an answer
