Philip Morris on Bond Street 1847

by Donna Rosenbloom 17 January 2006

Hi, I live over in the colonies (U.S.A.). I am trying to find out information about Philip Morris. I know he was a man who opened a tobacco shop on Bond Street in 1847. I am trying to find more information about this shop or any other information that anyone might have. I have found that he sold turkish cigars and Virginia pipe tobacco to the “carriage crowd” of London. Okay, well, like I said, I’m American. So what exactly is the “carriage crowd”? Would this be the upper class? Like Dukes, Earls, etc.? Or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated! My e-mail is donnarosenbloom@aol.com Thank you in advance for your help!
