Pub name by Viv webb 10 June 2007My father was born in a pub in Montague place in Kemp Town in the 1890s does anybody know the name of the pub?3 replies Re: Pub name by Andy Grant 10 June 2007Viv, If it was definitely a pub he was born in, it was probably the “Black Horse” at number 16. However, there were also quite a number of ‘Beer Retailers’ and the premises of a brewery in the street. Regards Andy Re: Pub name by Viv webb 12 June 2007Who was the publican of the Black Horse in the early 1900s? My father also spoke of his chilhood in a pub in Gloucester rd on the corner of Kensington Gds. Re: Pub name by Andy Grant 12 June 2007Viv, From the turn of the century until at least the time of WW1 the publican was Charles MILLS.
