roys school by duffy newman/watkins 4 February 2010what school did you go to roy?got a feeling i know you5 replies Re: roys school by Roy Rant 4 February 2010Tricky one because I moved about a bit Duffy (nothing to do with unpaid bills) but my school CV looks a bit like this. Stanford Road 1945-1946, Patcham 1946-1948 & 1954-1955, Carden 1948-1953 Corona (Turnhan Green & Ravenscourt Park London) 1953-1954 Varndean 1955-1958 The only Newmans I ever knew lived in Petworth Road and had a daughter Elaine of about my age. Re: roys school by duffy 5 February 2010maybe ive been mistaken roy,it just seems that the way you relate to my part of town its like you lived there,oh well dosent matter its still nice to speak to you ,thanks Re: roys school by Roy Grant 5 February 2010Before I was born Duffy, my family had two shops at 15-16 Edward Street on the corner of your William Street (up to 1935) but that may be before your time too. In my youth I hung out a lot round St Lukes, Moulsecombe, and Upper and Lower Bev, fished a lot from the pier and the boats off Peter Pan’s and was generally one of those gregareous gits that was into everything and everywhere. So perhaps its more of a case of where your mates were. Our youth was a time when parents let you out in the morning and expected you back in the evening, and never worried where you were between times. We all got into mischief (that was fun) but did our best to avoid trouble. A good philosophy, that unfortunately no longer works in this day and age. Whilst a scrumped apple tasted great, I would never have got a kick out smashing up someone else’s property. Fights were one to one, you used fists not head and feet and when you or your adversery went down, that was the end of it. Re: roys school by DUFFY 5 February 2010thanks for the info roy, it sounds just like my backgroundi did exactly the same things that you did, probably with the same crowd somtimes, all my friends and companions?were from around lower edward street area, including some of the colourfull characters that i have read about in the queries, bet i could write a book about the antics i have witnessed?i still have lots of friends in that area and still keep in touch, never know when you might need them,if you know what i mean ,you sound like the kind of person that would have fitted in well, proper brighton boy,, Re: roys school by Roy Grant 5 February 2010Think you have given me thoughts for a new string Duffy.
