Skull on the cill

by Roy Grant 11 April 2010

Roaming the Patcham twittens in the 1940s, I recall finding the shape of a skull embedded in the window cill of a derilict building. It was still there 50 years later in the dog legged twitten that linked the sothern end of Highview Avenue South with the southern end of Old London Road. I was told that superstitious builders would often put a small coin into a house to give it a soul, but this struck me as rather over the top. Has anyone else everv seen this or better still, does anyone know something more about the dericict building?
