Do you have a particular interest? Re: st, Nichalas Church Dyke road. by Caroline 15 December 2007Simon, yes I was interested in that particular church, as my Gt,GT,GT, Grandfather was married there to sarah, Richard and Sarah Towner 2nd May 1847.and two of there daughters, Mary Ann Towner, and Sarah Towner were Christend there also 3oth August 1846. And I have been doing my Ancestry on my Mothers side of my family tree. The Towner side. When I lived in Brighton as a child, I remember playing in the grave yard, never knowing that my Ancesters had been married there. Thank you for your reply. The inscription records below caught my eye – although the name is spelt TANER rather than TOWNER such an error in the inscription records would not be uncommon…I am developing a project around restoration and interpretation of the monuments at St Nicks and am very keen to find any living relatives of those remembered, so if this may be anything to do with your family please get back to meyoursSimon458 Sacred to the memory of Mrs SARAH MAY —- —- Mrs MARY ANN TANER 459 Unreadable 460 —- SARAH —- RICHARD —- Re: st, Nichalas Church Dyke road. by Caroline 18 December 2007Simon, I do not know if the towner family were buried at St Nichalas church yard. But a Richard and Sarah Towner were the Parents of a Mary Ann Towner and a Sarah Ann Towner. From my Ancesry records, I cannot find my Gt,Gt, Gt. Grandmothers correct death certificate, she was married to a William Cook so I believe, but he died around 1901. leaving her a Widow, maybe, (and I cannot prove this)she might have remarried.I would like to think they were all together though, at last. If you ever come across a George William Towner 1863 – 1900s some time in the future, I would be interested. were you able to read the dates at all on the stones ?? Thanks for your info.
