Sussex Square Stables. 1861.

by Tim Sargeant 20 February 2015

Does anyone know where Sussex Square Stables were circa 1861? I used to live in Sussex Square and Church Place and am familiar with the area. There used to be some stabling at the back of Sussex Square in Bristol Gardens at the junction with Church Place which had accomodation above. At one time in the 1940s East Brighton Riding Stables operated from there and later they were ‘Steve’s Garage’, who seemed to specialise in Lancias. BUT were these Sussex Square Stables in the 19th century can anyone tell me please? I am interested in John Perman a domestic coachman who lived there in the 1860s period and would like to know who his employer was at that time. He appears to be related to my wife’s family. Thanks for any assistance.
