the evershed family by julia andrews 8 April 2007any info. on the above family who owned jewellery shops in brighton/hove in the 19 century would be gratefully received3 replies Jan Cornall, 22 October 2007Hi, don’t know if this is of any help but I have aquired a wall clock with the name of Evershed & sons, Hove on the dial. The clock would date to about 1875ish. It is hard to determine if the name on the dial refers to the maker (there is a clock maker named Arthur Evershed of Brighton working in 1878, or if it was made for the Evershed jewelers in Hove, as it was the custom to have a dial clock made with the business name on it. Either way it does not help you in your family search, but I thought it might be of interest.
