The Police

by Roy Grant 12 October 2009

Topic contributions have shown we all have our own memories (fond or otherwise) of the local police force and police architecture.
One individual that sticks in my mind from the early 1960s was a heavily built motor cycle cop who I only knew as ‘Big MaC.’ A short white beard surmounted by an enormous ‘Jimmy Edwards’ type handlebar moustache protruded from inside the helmet which he undid to talk to you. When he once pulled me over by the Brighton Pylons, his complaint was not that I was going too fast, it was that I was not using my mirrors sufficiently to know he had been there for a while.
