Verner House, Victoria Terrace by Ian Gray 22 February 2008Hi, can anyone remember if Verner House 1-7 Victoria Gardens was ever a Hotel/Nursing Home in 1954. Thanks5 replies Re: Verner House, Victoria Terrace by Ian Gray 22 February 2008Sorry I meant 1-7 Victoria Terrace. The Hotel/Home was called The Verner Hotel. Thanks Re: Verner House, Victoria Terrace by Andy Grant 22 February 2008Hi Ian, Not according to the 1954 directory, it was all separate occupants or businesses. These premises remained like this throughout the whole duration of the 1950’s. Regards Andy Re: Verner House, Victoria Terrace by Ian Gray 22 February 2008Thanks Andy for looking, but in BT phone book of 1954 I have a Mrs J Poxton at The Verne Hotel Victoria Terrace. This might be my mother that is why I am trying to trace her.Thanks. Re: Verner House, Victoria Terrace by Andy Grant 22 February 2008Hi again Ian, Thanks for the clarification. Number 2 Victoria Terrace was listed as a guest house called “The Verner Lodge”, run by a Mrs. B.A. Strachan, in 1954. From around the end of WW2 the address had been listed as “The Verner Club”. Regards Andy Re: Verner House, Victoria Terrace by Ian Gray 22 February 2008Thank you so much Andy for your help, I think you have solved my mystery. Thanks again.
