In that year Lavender Street then ran between 63 St James Street and 96 Edward Street. Re: warwick street brighton by Tim Sargeant 11 August 2009Warwick St was “approximately” where Veronica Way is now but slightly to the South; The area was re-developed in the 60s and now consists of three large blocks partly on what was formerly Warwick St, and modern housing. In spite of spending much time in that area in the 1950s I can’t actually remember what was there previously. Look on Google satellite which gives you a good idea of the area today if you’re not in Brighton. TCS. Re: warwick street brighton by Tim Sargeant 11 August 2009PS: If it’s important to you I have a 1950s map which shows it and could email you a copy of that section. TCS. Re: warwick street brighton by mark harland 12 August 2009thanks tim if you could email that to me at marc6532003@yahoo.co.uk would be brilliant Re: warwick street brighton by barbara docherty 19 August 2020 10:41 AM55 Lavender Street was the Anchor pub (closed 1945) on the right-hand corner of Warwick Street (looking towards Bedford Street), the houses then ran to 38 and then a technical school teaching bakery, etc. The left-hand side had a hairdresser on the corner of Lavender Street and then the houses ran to the big British Road Services (BRS) depot opposite about nos 30–36, where I lived for 17 years. Lavender Street ran up to Eastern Road until it was closed off in the redevelopment of the 1970s. Re: warwick street brighton by Irene Mace 18 June 2022 7:03 PMMy grandparents (Albert & Nell Winch) ran the Anchor Inn at 56 Lavender Street, corner of Warwick St. Definitely there in 1911 but both died in1927. I was sad to see the pub had gone. Would love to see an old map of the area.. Add your replyHiddenAdd your title Add your wordsWould you like to add some images (optional)?
