I’ve been reading a lot about the evolution and sad decline of The West Pier but there are a couple of things I can’t find any information on.
Firstly, what was the rotunda style building at the southern, seaward facing end of the pier used for? There aren’t many close-up photos of it and I wouldn’t have thought it was for refreshment, at least not in the later years, as the pavilion had a cafe and the top floor of the converted theatre became a restaurant.
Secondly i know out of the 4 octagonal kiosks around the theatre at least 1 was removed from the pier and saved whilst some collapsed into the sea. Does anyone know how many survived, how many didn’t and the approximate time-line?
