In sorting out my own history, I know I moved to Hollingbury and was there for the infamous winter of 1947. But did that winter run from January 1947 to Spring, or was it later, around December 1947 and into 1948?
Another thought I have is about the prisoners of war that were working on the buildings and roads at the time. Most spoke German but there seemed to be some Italian speakers amongst them too. The war had ended a year earlier, any idea why were they still kept here and not sent home?
