Does anyone recall Zetlands Coffee Shop? It used to be patronised by ‘ladies who took morning coffee’ they wore smart hats, jewellery,pearls etc. It was a great laugh to go there on a Saturday morning in the 1970’s wearing hippy gear afghans etc and stick out ‘like a sore thumb’. I went there with a freind thus attired and a waitress had a fit of the giggles. Being privvy to rather snooty academic describing a visiting American lecturer as ‘having the manners and social graces of a gorilla! Oh my where have all those astonishing people gone?
