Remembrance Day 2020

‘They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.’

Laurence Binyon

  • The actual line is
    “They shall grow not old”
If you look at the full poem you will see this line stars the 5th or 6th verse.
    Also if you visit north
Cornwall I seem to remember it is not far from Polzeath area you can sit on the seat looking out to see where the author sat and composed the poem. Do read the full version as it is very moving.

  • I have just checked and it is in fact the 4th verse. If you search on line for L. Binyon you can see a picture of the plaque where the seat is dedicated to him.
