Brighton and Hove Albion fans lined the streets of the city to show their appreciation for their promotion-winning team this week.
The new League One champions were given a civic reception at Hove Town Hall and then drove aboard two open top buses which travelled from Hove to Madeira Drive. Appropriately the buses destination showed ‘League One Champions’.
Well done Seagulls – the city is proud of you!

Absolutely brilliant. I’ve been an Albion follower, initially at home but latterly as an absentee, since around 1962 when I used to read the match reports in the Evening Argus as I delivered them on the Sylvan Hall Estate. I recall the misery of relegation from the then Division 2 to Division 3 in 62-63 and to Division 4 the following season. Then, of course, the “Bobby Smith” season 64-65 when they were Div 4 champions. It’s been a rollercoaster ride ever since, but if the lows have been low the highs have been equally high. My congratulations to Gus and the boys for this season’s performance and best wishes for next season at the new stadium, from an old Brightonian now living in Bath.
