Hippos in the Old Steine

In May 2007 it is of course festival time – and there are lots of strange sights to be seen on the streets of the city.  One of our trusty volunteer photographers was amused by this rather quirky use of the fountain – whatever next?

  • I don’t find this photo amusing. I sent postcards to this site a couple of years ago of the two Brighton fountains which my Grandmother sent to my Dad when he was in the army. The fountains then and also when I was young were beautiful with their flowers and waterfalls and little green fences around to protect them from this sort of behaviour. I think the council should get their fingers out and protect this lovely piece of history that Brighton still has before these stupid people destroy it.
