Brighton and Hove seafront

These two views of the city from the pier were taken by ex-Brightonian William James on a recent visit to his home town.

William is a regular My Brighton and Hover and has a keen interest in local and family history. He is part of the Sussex Genealogy team who have been working on transferring parish registers to online versions. Apparently there are plans to start work on the Brighton and Hove Registers. Well that will certainly be very welcome around here.

  • “Click on the photos and when they open in a new window, click on them again to get a full screen view.” Almost correct! Click on them and they’ll open in a new (larger) window then press “F11” and they’ll appear truly full screen. Press “F11” again to return.
[Editor: The ‘2 clicks’ system works for us but perhaps you need F11 if you’re using a different browser and/or operating system. Thanks for the tip which may help others.]

  • I’m not sure which browser you’re using but the “2 clicks system” doesn’t give a full screen image on here using Firefox, Explorer or Chrome. To remove everything, including the toolbars etc. it’s necessry to use F11.
    [Editor: Thanks Jester!]

  • Not sure about browsers etc, but one click gives me a fantastic large photo. Skirting round the techie stuff, “great photos”!!

  • No problem with getting the pics full size. Sure changed since I left in the 1960s though - with those monstrous blocks of flats dwarfing those gorgeous Georgian buildings
