Mystery Photo

Brighton sea front.
From the private collection of Karen Swain

This photograph was in my Nan’s collection, but I do not have any ideas who the gentlemen were. It would be possible to take a guess at the year, mainly from their dress?

But I would love to know a little more if anyone can help. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment below.

Thank you in advance.

  • No help with the names of the folk in the image I am afraid, but the location is between West St and Middle St as one of the names on the Kings Rd Arches as shown in Kellys 1927 Directory, is V.Lanfranchi at 164/165 Kings Rd Arches, dining rooms. Next to that was Lewis Wellbourn, oyster merchant, at 166, followed by two refreshment rooms Mrs AEF Leach at 167 and Charles Hyatt at 168. The large 3 bay building on Kings Rd on the right of the image was the old Sea House Hotel on the corner of Middle St later this was Courts Furnishings.
