George Bean the 'Mystery soldier'

Here at My Brighton and Hove we are used to questions and requests for help arriving daily in our email box.  But a few weeks ago we received a quite unusual question from Peter Barnard who wrote:

'Wonderful site for long time residents of Brighton, always something of interest, but, where on earth did that picture (top left "armed forces" page) of my uncle, George Bean, come from?'

The photo in question was one taken from 'Brighton and Hove in Pictures' which is on the library site and as far as we were concerned was a 'mystery soldier'.  Peter was able to suggest where the original photo was taken and even sent us a photo of his uncle at school in Southover Street.

So - another My Brighton and Hove mystery solved - thanks Peter!
