Greengroceries to the Grand Hotel
My father used to have a store, which in the early days had been stables for the horses of the gentry of the area. When times were good my father opened another shop just down from the twitten leading from Russell Square, and my mother helped out with the business. While his business was thriving my father provided the greengroceries to the Grand Hotel, as the back entrance was in Cannon Street. He had a motorbike and sidecar and later a car, and would go to Brighton Races in a horse and carriage with his pals, when things were good
