tiny street by duffy 25 March 2010Does anyone know where lewis buildings are? i think that they are opposite the old post office in ship street.3 replies Re: tiny street by Roy Grant 25 March 2010I have some slides I took of that twitten in the early 1990s for I thought it a time capsule. The walling was flints (not cobbles) gleaned from agricultural fields and the pathway sloped into a central guttering marked by worn cobbles and unusually narrow bricks like those produced at the former works in Clayton. Re: tiny street by Andy Grant 25 March 2010Hi Duffy, If you go from North Street into Ship Street, Lewis’s Buildings is first on the right, between #36 and #37. It finishes at Duke’s Court, emerging into Duke Street. Regards Andy Re: tiny street by Geoffrey Mead 25 March 2010Snap Roy! I took some in the 80s & 90s knowing it would not last. I have one slide that could have been of the 19th century, now sadly only the repository of garish wheelie bins[cursed things].Named after Hyam Lewis a prominent Jewish poroperty owner in the early 19th century.
