In recent years, many traditional Brighton pubs or former beerhouses have been renamed and revamped, and in consequence, their original image has been lost. Of the few remaining much in their original form, I favour The Basketmakers in Gloucester Road and the Morning (or Evening) Star in Surrey Street. But I’m sure that there are other untouched local establishments that we should be reminded of.
