House full of used cheques

by Eric Cook 13 March 2010

As a young boy in the fifties I was wondering around what think was Kemptown looking for bit of adventure when I come across a house. It was a freestanding house surrounded by an unkempt garden. The gate and the front door were ajar. My curiosity got the better of me and I ventured inside. I was amazed to find that every room in the house was filled with used cheques, neatly stacked from floor to ceiling. Some rooms weren’t completely filled and had some space near the ceiling where I could climb up on. I shared this discovery with a friend who lived on Wilson Ave at the back of our place. Of course the game became who could find the biggest cheque.
Does anyone know of this house, who owned it and what became of it?
